"Tiny Victories 2.0. A Tale of Empathy" tells the story of Chioco Design's team journey when building a micro home for an individual who has struggled with chronic and sustained homelessness. How organizations like AIA Design Voice and Mobile Loaves & Fishes works timely to offer hope for the community. The word "empathy" serves as a prompt in the development, and execution, but mostly the idea of leaving behind preconceptions of what it is like to live without a home. AIA Austin’s Women in Architecture (WiA) Committee coordinated the Guide to Austin Architecture’s Groundbreaking Women Fall Bike Tour, which took place November 12th 2022 and featured 7 of 12 sites from the Guide to Austin Groundbreaking Women website. The Guide to Austin Architecture’s Groundbreaking Women Fall Bike Tour featured east Austin sites and included presentations by Ada Corral, AIA for the Festival Beach Restroom; Elizabeth Baird, AIA for Gati Ice Cream; Lucy Begg, AIA for 901 East 6th; Christy Taylor, AIA for Paperboy; Heather McKinney, FAIA for the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility; Donna Carter, FAIA for the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center; and Elizabeth Alford, Assoc.
